Free Training for Maryland’s Peer Workforce

At Dolan Research International, we believe that strong recovery systems start with strong people.

Peer recovery specialists and supervisors do important, high-impact work every day. They support individuals, families, and communities through some of life’s hardest moments. They deserve access to high-quality training, clear career pathways, and real professional support.

That belief is what led us to create Project Elevate in partnership with Light of Truth Center and 3C Recovery Support Training Institute.

What Is Project Elevate?

Project Elevate is a free training program for peer recovery workers and supervisors in Maryland.

The program is funded by the State of Maryland and delivered by Dolan Research International in partnership with Light of Truth Center and 3C Recovery Support Training Institute.

All classes and learning materials are provided at no cost to eligible Maryland residents.

Our goal is simple: to help peers and supervisors build strong, skilled, and sustainable careers in recovery support.

Who Is Project Elevate For?

Project Elevate is designed for people at many stages of their professional journey, including:

  • Individuals who want to become Certified Peer Recovery Specialists (CPRS)
  • Working peers who need continuing education hours
  • Supervisors who support peer staff
  • Program managers and team leaders
  • Organizations building peer services

Whether you are just getting started or have years of experience, Project Elevate offers pathways to support your growth.

Three Ways to Learn with Project Elevate

We offer three main learning pathways so participants can choose the support that fits their needs.

The Cohort Pathway: From Start to Certification

This pathway is for people who are new to peer work or have limited training.

Participants learn in small, supportive groups and move step by step toward CPRS certification. Along the way, they receive guidance from experienced trainers and mentors.

This pathway is ideal for individuals who want structure, accountability, and community as they begin their careers.

Public Calendar Classes: Build Your Skills

Public calendar classes are open trainings that participants can take one at a time.

They are designed for peers who already have some training and want to:

  • Earn continuing education hours
  • Strengthen core skills
  • Prepare for certification exams
  • Learn new tools and approaches
  • Grow professionally

Participants can choose the classes that best match their goals and schedules.

Supervisor Training: Lead with Confidence

Strong peer programs depend on strong supervision.

Our supervisor trainings help current and future leaders learn how to:

  • Support peer staff effectively
  • Follow Maryland guidelines
  • Build healthy, accountable teams
  • Navigate ethical and workplace challenges
  • Maintain registration and credentials

These courses support both initial registration and re-registration for supervisors.

How Registration Works

Because Project Elevate is grant-funded and seats are limited, we use a simple registration and confirmation process.

Participants are asked to:

  • Register in advance
  • Confirm attendance before class
  • Notify us if plans change

This helps ensure that public funding is used responsibly and that training opportunities remain fair and accessible.

Our Commitment to Participants

When you join Project Elevate, you can expect:

  • Respect and professionalism
  • Clear communication
  • High-quality instruction
  • Supportive learning environments
  • Trauma-informed and inclusive practices

We believe peer workers and supervisors deserve programs that reflect the importance of their work.

Why Project Elevate Matters

Across Maryland, peer workers play a critical role in improving recovery outcomes, strengthening communities, and reducing barriers to care.

Yet too often, peers face:

  • Limited access to affordable training
  • Unclear career pathways
  • Burnout and turnover
  • Inconsistent supervision
  • Administrative barriers

Project Elevate exists to help change that.

By investing in education, mentorship, and leadership development, we are helping build a stronger, more stable peer workforce for the long term.
